Doncaster Bloodstock’s Premier yearling sale begins on Tuesday with 467 yearlings catalogued. The two-day select sale has enjoyed a golden spell in recent weeks on the back of Group 1 graduates Canford Cliffs (Tagula) and Nunthorpe Stakes winner Sole Power (Kyllachy).
Canford Cliffs sold for 50,000 pounds (AUD 106,785) and Sole Power 32,000 pounds (AUD 68,345). Other G1 graduates include Dutch Art, Cockney Rebel, Excellent Art and Dark Angel.
First crop sires with progeny this year include Authorized, Amadeus Wolf, Dark Angel, Dylan Thomas, Excellent Art, Manduro, Rail Link, Red Clubs and Teofilo.
Sale graduates will be eligible for the 2011 DBS Premier Yearling Stakes. This year’s edition was won by the unbeaten Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) whose half-sister by Kyllachy is catalogued as Lot 182.
“We are delighted with the quality of yearlings that we have catalogued in 2010,” DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby said. “The standard of horses has improved again and we are thrilled that some leading breeders have chosen to sell some of their better yearlings at this sale.”
