Coolmore shuttler High Chaparral can finish the northern hemisphere season on a Group 1 high with Wigmore Hall and So You Think.

Wigmore Hall (4h High Chaparral – Love And Laughter by Theatrical) is being set for the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 15.

Trainer Michael Bell announced plans for Wigmore Hall after his G1 victory in the Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.  “The horse has pulled up absolutely fine,” Bell said from Canada on Monday.  “After the Champion Stakes, he will have a holiday and be prepared for the Dubai Duty Free in March.”

Bell won the G3 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine in 1999 with his second dam Hoh Dear.

Wigmore Hall made it back-to-back Northern Dancer victories for High Chaparral.  His Juddmonte homebred Redwood was successful in the race’s 2010 renewal.

Wigmore Hall’s victory increased High Chaparral’s worldwide Group 1 tally to six.  Heading the list is NZ bred superstar So You Think who is a 5/1 second favourite for the G1 Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 2.  The Aga Khan’s homebred filly Sarafina is the 3/1 favourite.

High Chaparral finished third in his two Arc attempts behind Sholokhov in 2002 and Dalakhani in 2003.
