Group 1 Promise at Yarradale Sale

What’s the residual value for a half-sister to a Golden Slipper winner and a Newmarket Hcp winner?

Buyers at Yarradale Stud’s yearling sale will get the chance to bid on that pedigree when the Ferocity – Bold Promise filly goes under the hammer this Sunday.

Parading as Lot 32 among 64 yearlings in the catalogue, the filly is a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Merlene and Newmarket Hcp winner Miss Pennymoney.

Their dam Bold Promise won a Magic Millions 2YO Classic and her family is just as relevant today with Merlene’s daughter Merlene de Lago winning to G2 level in South Africa.

Another daughter foaled future Group 1 winner Dear Demi.  A homebred for Strawberry Hill Stud owner John Singleton, the Dehere filly claimed the LR Fernhill Handicap at Randwick on Doncaster day and then finished her autumn campaign with a second to Pierro in the G1 Champagne Stakes.

Pierro beat Dear Demi by more than two lengths on the way to the Triple Crown but she was that far ahead of the others.  “She’s a lovely staying filly,” trainer Clarry Conners said.  ” I said to Singo I can’t wait until next year when she goes over 2000 metres and further.”

Conners and Singleton combined to win the 2000 Golden Slipper with Dehere filly Belle du Jour.

The Yarradale filly is a chestnut by leading Queensland sire Ferocity.  He is by Danehill’s ill-fated son Lion Hunter and was an Ascot Vale Stakes winner down the straight-six at Flemington.

Yarradale owner Ron Sayers has also catalogued yearlings by Darley sires Exceed And Excel, Hard Spun, Dubawi, Commands, Any Given Saturday, Strategic, Street Sense and Street Boss for the Stud’s fourth annual yearling sale.

The Yarradale Stud yearling sale will be held on site at Gidgegannup starting at 12 Noon (WA time) this Sunday.  For a copy of the catalogue call Yarradale on (08) 9574 6490 or click here to view online.
