Happy result for Darley sire at Deauville

Darley stallion Layman has a serious candidate for the 2012 classics with emerging filly Boldogsag.

Boldogsag (2f Layman – Belga Wood by Woodman) kept her unbeaten record intact in the G3 Prix des Reservoirs (1600m) at Deauville on Tuesday.

The Pascal Bary trained youngster made a winning debut in the Prix Cascade at Longchamp on September 17.  That maiden has a roll-call that includes champion filly Zarkava and last month’s G1 Prix Vermeille winner Galikova.

Boldogsag followed up with a cosy result in the Prix Cordova at Maison Laffite before Christophe-Patrice Lemaire coaxed her to a short-head victory at Deauville.

The grey filly is named after the Hungarian word for happiness.  She is a homebred for Haras de St Gatien owner George Sandor and is a sister to smart colt Beowulf who won the 2010 Prix Pharel at Maisons-Laffitte.

Layman stands at Haras du Logis on a roster that includes former Australian shuttlers Country Reel, Refuse To Bend and King’s Best along with NZ visitor Librettist.

He was a G3 winner of the Prix de Cabourg at two and followed up with placings to Divine Proportions in the G1 Prix Morny and to Oratorio in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère.

A son of Japanese champion Sunday Silence, his second dam Alydaress won the 1989 Irish Oaks.  It’s also the family of Cape Cross, Iffraaj, Fath and Diktat.

Layman has sired 25 winners of 44 races in his first two crops.  He stood for a 4,000 euros fee this year.

Belga Wood is in foal again to Layman and she is entered for the Arqana December Sale in Deauville!
