Irish-bred miler Havana Gold will seal a dual-hemisphere stud career if he can win the G1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 9.

Havana Gold (3c Teofilo – Jessica´s Dream by Desert Style) won the G1 Prix Jean Prat (1600m) at Chantilly in June and is due to arrive in Australia this weekend.  He is owned by Qatar Racing and will fly in with Sheikh Fahad al Thani’s Caulfield – Melbourne Cups winner Dunaden.

Havana Gold will stand his first northern season Tweenhills Farm in 2014.  The stud already shuttles Makfi (Invincible Spirit) to Westbury Stud and Harbour Watch (Acclamation) to Emirates Park.

“Havana Gold is a stunning individual and is precocious, classy and sound,” Qatar Racing manager David Redvers said.  “From a pedigree perspective, he’s by one of the stallion finds of recent years in Teofilo out of a stakes-winning mare.”

A winner of 5 races in 11 starts for champion trainer Richard Hannon, he will be under the care of Mikel Delzangles in Australia.  “Richard did a wonderful job but we moved him to Mikel because of his success with Dunaden,” Redvers added.  “We’re hoping he will round off his career in style in Australia.”

Tweenhills Farm will stand Havana Gold for an 8,500 pounds (AUD 14,350) service fee at its Gloucestershire property next year.

HAVANA GOLD
