Helluva winner by Written Tycoon

The latest two year-old winner by Written Tycoon arrived in style at Belmont Park on Wednesday.

Hell Of A Story (2g Written Tycoon – Wings of Courage by Puissance) looked a real professional on debut when pushed out in the Westspeed 2YO Hcp (1200m).  “That was a terrific,” trainer Bruce Van Kwawegen said.  “I was pretty confident as long as he jumped and Clint (Harvey) bustled him out of the gates.”

The winner sat outside pacemaker Vast Beauty and then accelerated to win by over a length from Keysbrook (So Secret) and Universal King (Universal Ruler).

Written Tycoon stands at Woodside Park Stud in Tylden and he sired the Perth youngster from a half-sister to G2 Kewney Stakes winner Eureka Jewel.

“He had a few things go wrong as a young horse – that’s why we called him Hell Of A Story,” Van Kwawegen explained.  “He’s big and upstanding but raw-boned so there’s still plenty of improvement to come.”

Written Tycoon has sired four juvenile winners so far this season and his promising maiden filly Press Report was runner-up to Mossfun in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill before going out for a spell.

The Woodside Park resident is one of the very best proven stallions in Victoria with 64 individual winners of 96 races this season.  And his winning strike-rate is bubbling along at better than 60%.

Written Tycoon’s service fee remains unchanged this year at just $13,750 (inc gst).
