Blueblood Henny Hughes filly Medusa’s Miss improved her residual value with a fast-finishing Warwick Farm win on Wednesday.
Medusa’s Miss (3f Henny Hughes – Cleopatra’s Girl by At Talaq) motored home in the Uncle Mo @ Coolmore Hcp (1200m) at her third run back this season. She scored by more than a length from Five Rocks (Fastnet Rock) and Amarachi (Lonhro).
Trainer Kevin Moses believes the filly is still well below her high-water mark. “She’s bred to keep improving over further than 1200 metres,” Moses claimed. “But for now, we will keep her in sprints.”
Medusa’s Miss was a four length winner on debut at Kembla in April and put the writing on the wall for another result when runner-up to Jolie Bay last month. The winner franked the form when doubling up in the G2 Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick last Saturday.
Medusa’s Miss is a half-sister to Group 1 star Mummify. Eliza Park agent David O’Callaghan bought their dam Cleopatra’s Girl for $26,000 when she was carrying the Henny Hughes filly at the 2009 Inglis Easter broodmare sale.
Henny Hughes is off to a flyer at stud with 134 winners of 266 races at a 58% strike-rate. He stands for a $7,700 (inc gst) fee at Rangview Stud and for further details, broodmare owners can contact Robbie Gray (0409 243 461) or Jody Gray (0418 933 707).
