High Voltage Highway prospect by All Too Hard

All Too Hard was straight out of the blocks with a winning update after Magic Millions released its Gold Coast 2YO Sale catalogue on Wednesday.

The Vinery Stud stallion has a full-brother to up-and-coming 3yo Insane Volt who looks a city-class horse following a dominant maiden victory in Canberra at the start of August and an even better win as a $3.60 favourite at Wagga on Thursday.

Baramul Stud’s consignment to the 2YO Sale on Tuesday, October 24 includes an All Too Hard full-brother to Insane Volt (Lot 133).  Overall, he has 14 entrants and all bar one sport the GH brand of Baramul owner Gerry Harvey.

Insane Volt is going places further afield than the home base of Canberra trainer Todd Smart and jockey Jordan Mallyon but there aren’t any plans to rush his development.  That’s ironic considering he was a 2yo debutant in the ATC Breeders’ Plate (Gr.3, 1000m) at Randwick last October.

“He was immature but was ready for the Breeders’ Plate,” Smart recalled of a second-half finish on a Heavy 8 in Sydney’s traditional first nursery of the season.  “He pulled up sweet and hasn’t stopped learning since then.

“He had a good break and yesterday’s result will give him more confidence going forward,” Smart explained following the Taber Electrical Hcp (1000m) on Friday morning.  “Jordy said it was a tough win and he’s looking forward to the next prep.”

Insane Volt had returned to Randwick for a Highway Hcp (1000m) between his first two wins but stewards reported he raced ungenerously after a bump in the early stages of the race won by Derry Grove (Star Turn).  He was also hampered at the 600m when taken wide by another runner shifting out.

“With a better draw he finishes in the first three,” Smart claimed.  “We will take him through the grades and that will probably include a trip to town for another Highway.”

Insane Volt races for a syndicate managed by Smart’s strong supporter Ben McAllister.  His dam Very Puzzling (Testa Rossa) is a daughter of Kryptelon (Falvelon) who won 9 races topped by the 2010 Gai Waterhouse Classic (LR, 1350m) at Ipswich.

The All Too Hard – Testa Rossa cross has produced 13 individual winners at a 62% strike-rate and Very Puzzling’s latest foal is a yearling filly by Vinery stallion Exceedance.

Baramul has entered two fillies from the first-crop by Exceedance at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale.  Lot 60 is from Lucrezia (Zabeel), a NZ-bred half-sister to Hong Kong Derby (LR, 2000m) winner Super Satin (Danehill Dancer).

Lot 103 out of Senorita de Lago (Encosta de Lago) also has a Hong Kong connection as a half-sister to Monica (Murtajill).   She won four races at Sha Tin and earned the equivalent of AUD790,000 as a sprinter-miler for clients of trainer John Moore.

Vinery stands All Too Hard for $38,500 and Exceedance is priced at $33,000. Both fees (inc. GST) with payment on live foal. For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
