Holy Roman Emperor has left his rivals standing with a rush of winners in England and Crying Lightening can give him a Royal Ascot result when she starts in the G3 Albany Stakes on Friday.

Crying Lightening (2f Holy Roman Emperor – Auction Room by Chester House) is trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam and was a resounding winner at Leicester on debut earlier this month.  

Chapple-Hyam has enjoyed notable two-year-old success at the royal meeting with the likes of Winker Watson, Dutch Art and Shining Hour and hopes to add to that list with Crying Lightening.  “We were delighted with Crying Lightening’s first run and she is entitled to have come on for that.  The Albany Stakes looks a hot race but she is a talented filly and granted fast ground I think she can hold her own.”

Holy Roman Emperor fillies Jollywood and Fifth Commandment scored at Bath last Saturday to boost his number of individual winners to 8.  The running double came just a day after Emperor Hadrian has saluted for Holy Roman Emperor at Navan.

Jollywood (2f  Holy Roman Emperor –  Save The Table by Tale Of The Cat) had already won at Bath last month for owner Julie Wood and trainer Richard Hannon.  She was bred by Tony O’Dwyer and was initially passed-in for 24,000 euros at the 2008 Goffs Foal Sale.  Jollywood is from a half-sister to old warhorse Royal Dignitary who won 18 races including the LR Classic Trial at Thirsk.

Fifth Commandment (2f Holy Roman Emperor – Via Milano by Singspiel) was an eye-catching three length winner at Bath a half-hour after Jollywood.  She is a half-sister to recent Listed Prix des Lilas winner Via Medici.  Their dam Via Milano finished fourth behind Torrestrella in the French 1000 Guineas.

Fifth Commandment is raced by Danny Durkan and she cost 20,000 euros at the 2009 Goffs Orby yearling sale out of the Ballylinch Stud draft.

Coolmore’s Danehill freshman stole a march on his first-season rivals when High Award won at the Curragh on March 21.  The colt became his first stakes winner when scoring a professional victory in the Listed Woodcote Stakes on the English Derby undercard on June 5.

His fillies Hortensia (Newmarket), Catherineofaragon (Dundalk) and Two Feet Of Snow (Brighton) were successful in May before Crying Lightening’s debut at Leicester on June 1.

Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill) was a G1 winner of the Phoenix Stakes and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere but was drafted into stud duties at Coolmore at short notice in 2007.  He replaced ill-fated colt George Washington who had fertility issues.  He covered 150 mares in his first season at stud in Ireland and later that year shuttled to Australia to serve another 131 mares.

Holy Roman Emperor’s eldest Australasian progeny will be 2YOs in 2010-11.  They were well received at recent Australasian majors and have been placed with trainers like Gai Waterhouse, Chris Waller, Peter Moody, Gerald Ryan, Mark Wallace and Roger James.

Holy Roman Emperor will stand the 2010 season at Coolmore Australia at a fee of $27,500 (inc gst).
