Hot Danish broke through for her first Group 1 victory in last month’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick and promptly added a second to her outstanding record in the Doomben 10,000 on Saturday.
Hot Danish (6m Nothin Leica Dane- Hot ‘n’ Breezy by Zephyr Zip) was offered by Holbrook Thoroughbreds at the 2005 Inglis Scone Sale and made $32,000 to the bid of Randwick trainer Les Bridge. Her record now reads 14 wins in 25 starts for earnings just shy of $2 million.
It was also another great result for Cangon Stud owner Jamie Mackay who will stand Nothin’ Leica Dane for the first time this year. The Danehill stallion was a G1 winner of VRC Victoria Derby and AJC Spring Champion Stakes and has since been based at Byerley Stud.
Cangon Stud is also home to G3 VRC Gilgai Stakes winner Recapitalize (Royal Academy) and Gunpowder (Danehill).
Hot Danish’s dam Hot ‘n’ Breezy won races at Randwick, Newcastle and Wyong. Her first winner was Prince Frederik (Nothin’ Leica Dane) and she has a yearling Nothin’ Leica Dane filly and was covered by Encosta de Lago last year.
Hot Danish led home an Inglis quinella in the Doomben 10,000 with Whobegotyou ($19,500 2007 Classic) turning in a stunning Stradbroke trial with his barnstorming second placing. The Doomben 10,000 also completed an Inglis Group race hat-trick at Doomben.
Kutchinsky (3g Anabaa-My First Zabeel by Zabeel) announced himself as the Queensland Derby favourite after ripping home to win the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m). He is bred on the same Anabaa-Zabeel cross as 2006 AJC Derby winner Headturner and was a $290,000 buy at the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale.
Trainer Tony Noonan rates Kutchinsky as the most promising horse he has trained and he will get his chance at Group 1 level in the Queensland Derby in a fortnight.
Tabulate won his fifth race in his past six starts when getting a photo finish verdict in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup. The Rob Heathcote trained galloper will now head to Eagle Farm where the Group 2 Brisbane Cup awaits.
Tabulate (5g Honours List – Shurban by Prego) is by a former Widden Stud now based in Spain. Honours List is also the sire of G1 winner Triple Honour who was beaten a head and a nose by Metal Bender and Gold Water in the Doomben Cup last month.
Another recent Group 1 winner by Honours List is Luen Yat Forever who completed the 2010 Macau Triple Crown in the Macau Guineas and Derby and Gold Cup.
