Written Tycoon filly Hot Dipped thrashed her rivals by 8 lengths in the Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Classic (1220m) on Wednesday evening.
Sent out the hot favourite after an outstanding debut win in January, Hot Dipped didn’t give her followers a moment of worry as she cruised home in Launceston. “I haven’t been that nervous for a long time,” trainer Brendan McShane admitted. “She has always shown plenty of ability and I guess it was a sign I knew I had a very good horse.”
Hot Dipped sold for $33,000 from Reiby Lodge at the 2015 Tasmanian Magic Millions. “She’s turned into a great investment,” McShane noted. “We could back her up next week in the (LR) Gold Sovereign Stakes.”
The winner’s dam Galvanized (Rubiton) had claimed the LR Strutt Stakes in 2004 and she was also stakes placed at Flemington and Moonee Valley. Her earlier foals include recent Launceston winner Hugo (Magnus) who was sixth home in last week’s LR Hobart Cup.
It was second Magic Millions win for Written Tycoon following Capitalist’s victory in the $2 million Gold Coast 2YO Classic last month. The Woodside Park sire leads the Australian 2YO sires’ premiership with earnings of $1.58 million.
