Reigning VOBIS Horse of the Year Trust In A Gust is on-course for a Group 1 campaign this spring after an outstanding victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
He is a son of Greta West Stud stallion Keep The Faith and, a couple of hours after his first-up win, fellow Greta West sire King Of Prussia popped up with Justify That in the LR Penny Edition Stakes at Morphettville.
Justify That (7g King of Prussia – Duty With Honour by West Point) claimed his first black-type success with a powerful finish to defeat Riziz (Zariz) and Extra Virgin (Keep the Faith).
Strathalbyn trainer Peter Moody had the option of crossing the border for the Mildura Cup or completing a hat-trick at Morphettville. “I didn’t really know how the Mildura Cup field was going to shape up so we decided to stay closer to home. He’s been super this time in.”
Justify That has won 11 races for over $356,000 and he can notch another Listed win next time out in the $80,000 Balaklava Cup on September 3.
Meanwhile, Trust In A Gust broke through the $500,000 barrier at Moonee Valley on Saturday. Trainer Darren Weir will consider setting him for the G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on September 28.
