Iffraaj extends record-breaking year in Europe

Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj stretched his European first-season winner tally to 38 at Southwell on Thursday.

If You Whisper (2g Iffraaj – Little Whisper by Be My Guest) scored a one length victory in the Bet SP At Totesport Maiden Stakes.  He began slowly but made headway to lead at the furlong.  Mazovian (E Dubai) issued a brief challenge before the Mike Murphy trained youngster asserted his superiority.

Iffraaj (Zafonic) stands at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland and shuttles to Haunui Farm in New Zealand.  His European first-crop flag-bearer is unbeaten G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Wootton Bassett.

He equalled Invincible Spirit’s record of 35 individual winners by a first-season stallion in Europe when Rosa Coletti won at Varese on November 2.  Dixlesio sent him one clear in Madrid on November 21 and Dunmore Boy made it 37 at Wolverhampton on November 26.

If You Whisper was passed in for 2,000gns at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale earlier this year.  His dam Little Whisper won at Down Royal and was stakes placed at Naas.

Iffraaj’s 2011 fee at Kildangan Stud has been increased from 6,000 euros to 15,000 euros.  He has 11 lots from his first southern crop catalogued for the 2011 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale.  It’s the largest consignment of any first season sire at Karaka and includes a half-brother to G1 winner Zabrasive (Lot 256).
