Inglis Jackpot at Caulfield

Form out of the $100,000 Wellington R.C. Inglis Bonus on July 16 stacked up strongly when Hot Spin and Jackpot Queen returned to Caulfield to take out the two-year-old double on Saturday.

Hot Spin (2g Spinning World – Raging Inferno by Belong to Me) joined the growing list of winners in the rich Inglis Race Series a fortnight ago and the youngster confirmed the merit of that win when doubling up in the Dean McNeill Hcp (1000m) at Caulfield.

Flemington trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra prepare the winner for a syndicate headed by Contract Racing’s David Moodie and MRC Treasurer Brodie Arnhold.  He is an $80,000 graduate from Yallambee’s draft at last year’s Melbourne Premier yearling sale and has earned more than $250,000.

A Lion Heart two-year-old half-brother to Hot Spin will be offered by Vintage Park Stud at the Melbourne August Sale as Lot 160 at Oaklands on August 18.  Their dam Raging Inferno has also foaled recent Ballarat winner African Heat (Johannesburg).

Canberra filly Jackpot Queen finished well down the track in the race won by Hot Spin a fortnight ago, however, she bounced back to form on the final Saturday of the season.

Her chances were ruined by a wide run last time but the Matt Dale trained filly enjoyed better transit to win the Timothy Hunter Hcp (1000m) in a photo-finish.

Jackpot Queen has shown a liking for Melbourne, having also won at Flemington, but quite simply she’s given connections a wonderful ride this season, having also posted wins at Randwick and in the Wellington Boot.

Jackpot Queen (2f Not A Single Doubt – Cash Crazy by Secret Savings) is raced by George Costi and cost $47,000 at the 2010 Inglis Classic Sale.  She is by Arrowfield sire Not A Single Doubt and is related to the full brothers Hot As Hell (G3 AJC Shorts) and Flaming Hot (LR Carrington Stakes).

Arrowfield stallion Not A Single Doubt has sired 100 individual winners.  His oldest are rising five year-olds and they have won a total of 221 races and a very healthy 63% strike-rate.
