Burnewang North Pastoral enjoyed a red-letter day on February 17 when its four leaf clover brand was carried to victory for the first time.  Burnewang bred youngster Flaxton did the honours with a dominant win on debut at Riccarton yesterday.

Flaxton (2g Falvelon – Hello Boys by Rory’s Jester) was a member of BNP’s inaugural draft at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier when purchased for $80,000 by NZ agent Paul Beamish for clients of trainer Mandy Brown.

Despite racing wide without cover, Flaxton won virtually untouched confirming the stable’s view that he has black type potential.

Flaxton is by Glenlogan Park sire Falvelon from five-time Melbourne and Adelaide winner Hello Boys.  The mare was also G3 placed when beaten a head by Patterns in the 2001 Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield.  She has a colt on the ground by God’s Own and is in foal to Elvstroem.

Burnewang North will present its second draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale and there have been a couple of updates since the catalogue was printed.

You’rejokingme scored his fifth win on the Mornington Cup support card yesterday and his half-sister by Stratum is catalogued as Lot 64.  They are from Coupe (Spinning World) who is now a member of the BNP broodmare band.

Coupe was a G2 winner of the VRC Edward Manifold Stakes carrying the famous Kingston Park Stud colours of David and Helen Hains.  Burnewang North, which is situated between Elmore and Rochester on the Campaspe River, is owned by their daughter Cathy.

The BNP filly by Starcraft (Lot 114) is another Premier Sale entrant with a significant update.  She is a younger half-sister to the Guy Walter trained Al Dhafra (Fusaichi Pegasus) who is unbeaten in three starts to date in Sydney.
