A half-sister to G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Extreme Choice set a new record price of $115,000 at the Inglis HTBA Scone yearling sale on Sunday.
The Duporth – Extremely filly was one of 172 lots that found new homes for turnover of $2.60 million. The average price lifted 37% to $15,147 off an 87% clearance rate.
Group 1 winning Red Ransom sire Duporth covered six books at Kitchwin Hills before transferring to Jindera Park near the NSW – Victorian border earlier this year.
His Scone Sale topper was offered by Bell River Thoroughbreds and was purchased by Inglis (as agent) ahead of under-bidder Darby Racing. The previous sale record of $110,000 was set back in 2008 by a Falvelon filly (later named Tycoon Stella) who eventually retired a maiden after 19 starts.
For the fifth consecutive year, Newcastle trainer Paul Perry finished the Scone Sale as the leading individual buyer signing for 6 lots totalling $191,000. “There are always good horses that come out of this sale, that’s why we come back year after year,” said Perry. “We’ve picked up some nice horses again and hopefully they are the ones that come out on top when they hit the track.”
Darby Racing purchased subsequent Group 2 winner Look To The Stars from the Scone Yearling Sale two years ago and the top syndicators secured another three prospects from this year’s auction for $139,000.
