Inglis trifecta in South Pacific Classic

The winning run for graduates of the Inglis Scone yearling sale continued at Randwick on Saturday when Star Of Octagonal proved too strong in the G3 South Pacific Classic (1400m).

Star Of Octagonal (3g Octagonal – Joyce by Faltaat) was a $23,000 buy out of the 2008 Scone Sale when offered by Woodlands Stud.  His dam was a 2yo winner at Randwick and his second-dam is a half-sister to Listed Gosford Guineas winner Sable Dreamer (Kaapstad)

Star Of Octagonal is trained by Todd Howlett at Singleton and was placed behind Hewentwhoosh on debut in the Inglis 2yo Challenge at Scone in May 2009.  He is the fourth individual stakes winning graduate from the Scone sale in the past month following Small Minds, Hot Danish and Welkom Gold.

The South Pacific Classic was an all Inglis finish.  Runner-up Neeson was passed-in for $65,000 at Inglis Easter 11 while All Legal was a $25,000 buy at the Inglis Classic.

Star Of Octagonal is now headed to the Scone Inglis Guineas (1600m) on May 14, which boasts prizemoney of $770,000, including $500,000 to the winner.  The 2010 Inglis Scone Select Yearling Sale will be held over two days on May 13 and 16.  The catalogue is now Online.
