Jahan has returned from a career-threatening injury to win the Penshurst Cup (2000m) for trainer Bill Wilde.

The Keep The Faith gelding won the Boxing Day feature by four lengths after spending more than a year on the sidelines.  “They don’t normally come back from that sort of fetlock injury but he appears to be better than ever,” Wilde said.  “We will probably send him down to town now.”

Jahan (5g Keep The Faith – Miss Mayfair by Kingston Rule) is a homebred for Donald & Michael Niall and is from a three-quarter sister to G1 Victorian Oaks winner Kensington Palace.

The born-again stayer had won at Ararat and Stawell before making it 5 wins from 18 starts on Friday.  “I had the perfect run and the fast pace suited my horse,” jockey Eddie Creighton said.  “It was his first try over 2000 metres but that never presented a problem – Jahan was very strong at the end of the race and has got a bright future.  I reckon he will go through the classes.”

Keep The Faith has sired the winners of $1.34 million this season with Trust In A Gust his chief earner following Group 1 victories in the Sir Rupert Clark Stakes and Toorak Hcp.

The Greta West Stud resident has been credited with 38 individual winners and sits fourth on the Victorian table behind Bel Esprit (63), Written Tycoon (47) and Magnus (46).
