Northern Farms purchased G2 winning mare Quelle Amore for 300,000 guineas to share top billing on Day 3 at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale on Wednesday. Consigned by Newsells Park Stud, the seven-year-old daughter of Monsun was offered in foal to Dubawi.
Northern Farms Katsumi Yoshida had purchased G3 winner Belle Allure in foal to Giant’s Causeway for 375,000 guineas on Day 1 of the Mare Sale.
Wednesday’s other 300,000 guineas buy was the Group winning filly Shamwari Lodge (Hawk Wing). She was purchased by Ronan Burns of Lodge Park Stud. He fought off the determined Eishin Farms trio from Japan to secure the half-sister to G1 Haydock Sprint Cup winner Pipalong.
Galileo filly Appearance topped the consignment from Prince Khalid’s Juddmonte Farms at 280,000 guineas. Newmarket trainer Luca Cumani bought her for a client and she will be mated with Dubawi. A total of 31 fillies sold from the Juddmonte Farms draft for turnover of 1.12 million guineas.
Day 3 trade comprised 174 lots changing hands for 5.56 million guineas at an average of 31,971 guineas. That was down from last year’s average of 37,968 guineas.
The Tattersalls December Mare Sale concludes with the fourth and final session on Thursday.
