Jeune started the year with a G2 Perth Cup victory courtesy of Lords Ransom and the deceased Lindsay Park favourite can sire another winner at Wangaratta this afternoon with Jeuneys End (Race 7 at 5.20pm AEDT).
Jeuneys End (5g Jeune – Nishani by Military Plume) is trained locally by Allan Fitzgerald and was a Wang. winner over 1600m third-up from a spell on December 15. He will be stretching further than a mile for the first time in the Strathmerton Drilling Hcp over 2010 metres but that distance shouldn’t be a problem for a son of Jeune.
Jeuneys End’s dam Nishani and second dam Autumn Leaves (Salmon Leap) didn’t win past 1400m but there’s plenty of stamina in the bottom half of the pedigree. He is a three-quarter brother to Autumn Jeuney (Jeune) who won at G3 level up to 1700m in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Another close relation is Crown Prosecutor (Grand Lodge). He won the 2005 Perth Cup for Bob Peters and Lords Ransom added another carrying his cerise and white colours last Friday.
