Jimmy joint-favourite for Cox Plate

NZ Horse of the Year Jimmy Choux has been installed a $7 co-favourite with Whobegotyou for the Cox Plate after an outstanding victory in the G1 Windsor Park Plate at Hastings on Saturday.

Jimmy Choux (4h Thorn Park – Cierzo by Centaine) was sent out an odds-on favourite and he ran down Mufhasa to reverse the Makfi Challenge result from last month.  He is likely to have one more race in New Zealand before heading to Melbourne.

The John Bary trained stallion has already left his mark in Australia having won the G1 Rosehill Guineas in March after claiming the G1 Two Thousand Guineas – Guineas at home.

Jimmy Choux is a homebred for Richard and Liz Wood.  His sire Thorn Park was a G1 winner of the Stradbroke Hcp and stands at Windsor Park Stud for a fee of $13,500.  His dam Cierzo is a daughter of LR Castletown Stakes winner Gale (Wild Rampage).

Priot to the Rosehill Guineas, the Woods had already been presented with Group 1 silverware in Australia.  They raced Count Chivas (Lord Ballina) who did best in a slogging finish to the 1996 Sydney Cup at Randwick.
