Joe Blow breaks drought in Ballina Cup

Regally bred knockabout Joe Blow broke a 30 month losing streak in the $50,000 Ballina Cup (1600m) on Friday.

Joe Blow (7g Sadler’s Wells – Strawberry Girl by Strawberry Road) was purchased for just $4,500 at the Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale in June by owner-trainer Neil Godbolt and wife Maxine.

Joe Blow arrived with a perfectly timed run on the rails to overhaul Desert Bunny and Ausworld in the Ballina Cup  He will now be set for another feature win in either the Port Macquarie or Lismore Cup.

Previously trained by Bart Cummings, the winner had not saluted since winning two in a row at Randwick’s Kensington course in March 2009.

By super-sire Sadler’s Wells, Joe Blow is one of seven winners produced by grand producing mare Strawberry Girl.  Her stakes winning progeny include Danroad, Newtown Jet and Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winner Tippitaka.

Recent winning graduates from Magic Millions Racehorse Sales include Hume, Strumming, Module, Glow Heart and Hampden.
