Mark Kavanagh is on a roll with his latest crop of three-year-old fillies this season and he trained a third stakes winner from that division at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Miss Stellabelle (3f Dehere – Sam’s Belle by Spinning World) produced a powerful finishing burst in the straight to score a brilliant victory in the G3 MVRC Champagne Stakes (1200m).
The Flemington based filly was coming off an impressive Bendigo maiden victory on September 21 and gives Kavanagh another ace up his sleeve after his One Thousand Guineas candidates Atlantic Jewel and Celebrity Girl.
Kavanagh has long-term plans for Miss Stellabelle. “She’s jumped from Bendigo to a Group 3 and only good horses can to do that. We won’t overdo her now. I want to keep plenty in the tank for the autumn.”
A graduate of Glastonbury Farms, Miss Stellabelle was sold twice by Magic Millions. She made $38,000 to the bid of Perth agent Michael Flannery at the 2009 National weanling sale and was resold for $75,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast yearling Sale.
She is owned by Laurence Eales and races in the same black and orange colours as Shocking and Whobegotyou.
Miss Stellabelle is by former Coolmore shuttler Dehere and is a three quarter sister to stakes winning sprinter Here De Angels.
