Stallion prospect Keano topped the Inglis March Sale in Melbourne on Friday. The Pins five year-old made $92,000 to the bid of Victorian based Anderson Bloodstock.
Keano was trained by Danny O’Brien and was a Listed winner of the 2009 QTC Lightning Stakes as well as winning at Flemington (4) and Moonee Valley. He is from a half-sister to Champion NZ sire O’Reilly.
Encosta De Lago stallion Raffaello fetched $85,000. He won 9 races was Group 1 placed in the 2009 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes won by Turffontein.
Five year-old entire Lucky Thunder (Lucky Owners) was knocked down to Brian Jenkins for $46,000. He was a Moonee Valley winner and was placed in the G1 VRC Australian Guineas and G2 Sandown Guineas.
Caulfield trainer Brendan McCarthy caught a bargain when he bought Flemington stakes winner Sly Sandra for $16,000. She is rising 17 but is the dam of Listed Hareeba Stakes winner Zedi Knight and is in foal to Chatswood Stud sire Amadeus Wolf.
A total of 197 lots were sold at Oaklands Junction on Friday for $1.34 million at a 92% clearance rate.
