Keeneland September Sale’s final average rises 18%

A colt by Darley shuttler Henny Hughes topped the final session of Keeneland’s September yearling sale on Saturday.

Agent Kim Valerio bought the New York-bred colt for $35,000 from the consignment of Blake-Albina Thoroughbreds.  He is from the stakes-placed Totally Crafty (Crafty Prospector).

A gray Tiz Wonderful filly also sold to Valerio for $35,000.  The Kentucky-bred is out of stakes winner Summer Star (Siberian Summer).

Day 13 saw 185 yearlings sell for a gross $1.30 million at an average of $7,072.

The marathon sale concluded on Saturday with 2,921 yearlings grossing $223.48 million.  The average rose 18% to $76,511 and median increased 20% to $30,000.
