Kemp doubles up at Clifford Park

Local trainer Kevin Kemp started the season with a winning double at Toowoomba on Saturday night and he hopes it’s a sign of things to come.

Kemp prepared Cerulean Blue (Falvelon) and Rock It Now (Easy Rocking) to Class 1 victories at Clifford Park.

“There are some promising youngsters in the stable and I’m confident they can deliver,” Kemp said.  “It’s a great feeling to get a winning start.

“I have a half-dozen two-year-olds in work.  They won’t be ready for the Fitton Hopeful Plate, which is a shame, but they will trial not long after.”

Kemp believed Cerulean Blue was capable of winning on Saturday night despite a couple of ordinary lead-ups.  “The vets told me to change the tongue tie from elastic to a stocking.  That helped and so did the fact she was dropping back from a Class 3.”

Kemp’s other winning entry Rock It Now  scored by over a length with Nozi Tomizawa aboard.

The Toowoomba connection was also on show at Flemington on Saturday when the Tony Gollan-trained Temple of Boom scoring a convincing win in the lead-up to his spring campaign in Melbourne.
