Australian agent Neil Bowden was made the leader board at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sale on Monday when he purchased the Giant’s Causeway mare Julia Tuttle for $235,000.

Cherokee Equine’s Tom Ryan signed the sale ticket on behalf of Bowden.  Julia Tuttle was a Listed winner of the 2008 Twin Lights Stakes at Monmouth Park.  She is from Ride the Rails mare Candy Cane who is a sister to Argentine champion racehorse and sire Candy Ride.

Overall, the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sale provided more encouragement for the North American industry when the average increased 37%.

Lavender Sky (Mt. Livermore) was the most expensive lot bringing $340,000.  “She is very correct,” said William Lockridge who was acting for a foreign client.  Lockridge founded Ashford Stud which is now owned by Coolmore.  “She is very well made and is out of a blue hen family.”

Lavender Sky won two races and was also placed in the 2007 Dahlia Handicap (G2) at Hollywood and the 2008 Santa Ana Handicap (G3) at Santa Anita.  Her third dam Kamar was 1990 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year.  Her foals include Kentucky Oaks winners Seaside Attraction and Gorgeous plus Canadian champion Key to the Moo.

Bear’s Kid, a G2 winner of the 2005 Summer Stakes in Canada, sold for $260,000.  The Novel Group purchased the seven year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid who is out of the G1 winning Pleasant Tap mare Tap to Music.  The dam is a half-sister to successful sire Northern Afleet.
