Regally-bred 10yo stallion King’s Troop has been signed to stand at Roselee Park for a $4,400 (inc GST) service fee this season.
Roselee Park’s Wayne and Tracy Rodwell have arranged to stand King’s Troop with his owners Gangemi Thoroughbreds. “I’ve got a lot of time for King’s Troop and, given the right opportunities, I think he can make the grade as a successful stallion,” Tracy said. “He’s a short-coupled son of Redoute’s Choice and, as a group, his progeny are correct and the ones we’ve seen have ability.”
King’s Troop is a three-quarter brother to Snitzel and his dam is a half-sister to Hinchinbrook. He inherited that precocity blitzing a Warwick Farm 2yo sprint and followed up with a half-length second in the G3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.
Through no fault of anyone, Roselee Park will be his third home since covering his first book with the late Kent Johnston at Taunton Vale. His first two crops have produced 10 individual winners from limited numbers with the standout being All The King’s Men who scored at Listed level in the Bunbury Breeders Classic and Lex Piper Stakes this season.
Trevor Andrews trains All The King’s Men and Dan Morton prepares his unraced full-brother King’s Salute who is a homebred for Oakland Park in partnership with Steve and Darryl Litton (Hamlin Bay Thoroughbreds).
Group 1 trainer Nigel Reid also rates Kings Troop at Forge On Park in Coolup which is named after his Kingston Town Classic winner of 1995. “We’ve been agisting about eight of them and they’re easy to like. They’re nice types with good legs and plenty of scope.
“King’s Troop isn’t a tall stallion but he’s put some height into the two year-olds and yearlings we’ve had here. He has an outstanding stallion pedigree and the best is definitely in front of him.”
Among his 2yo sons spelling at Coolup are Kings Sicario who came from last to land the Amelia Park Maiden (1200m) at Belmont in March and Patron Of Kings won two Belmont trials in April for Dion Luciani.
Patron Of Kings is a younger full-brother to Serviceman who has won at Pinjarra and Belmont for Bob McPherson. They’re the final foals of Salavat (Soviet Lad) who won a half-dozen Perth sprints for Bob Turrell and is closely related to the Peters Investments homebreds Graceful Girl (G1 Winterbottom Stake) and Respondent (G2 WATC Derby).
