Kitchwin Hills filly takes centre Stage

Leading owner-breeder Peter Moran was on Cloud 9 this week when his champion broodmare Staging delivered an Encosta De Lago filly at Kitchwin Hills.  She is the first filly that Staging has foaled for eight years.

Staging started her stud career with the Flying Spur fillies Succeeding (2001) and Studio (2002) but since then she has foaled four colts including Excites (G1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes), Duporth (G1 BTC Cup) and Tickets (G2 STC Pago Pago Stakes).

Staging (Success Express) won 10 races including the G2 AJC Light Fingers Stakes, G2 AJC Surround Stakes, G2 AJC Emancipation Stakes and G2 BTC Carlton Cup.

Duporth (Red Ransom) is covering his first mares at Kitchwin Hills this year and he settled into stallion duties with aplomb, according to manager Michael Malone.

“A big attraction to those breeders who inspected Duporth earlier in the year was his rock star looks but you need to see him now that he has let down,”  Malone said.  “He’s a magnificent individual who should really stamp his progeny.”

Duporth joined exciting young Danehill stallion Dane Shadow on the Kitchwin Hills roster this year.  He stands for a $22,000 service fee.
