Last week’s winning double with Equilibrium and Lucky For All will spark a warm winter for clients of Bluegrass Bloodstock (FBAA).

Both gallopers were purchased as tried horses out of New Zealand by Bluegrass Bloodstock’s Lenny Russo.  Equilibrium (Shamoline Warrior) won first-up in Australia at Sale on Monday and Lucky For All (Tavistock) is unbeaten since crossing the Tasman after saluting at Warrnambool on Wednesday.

Equilibrium had only won a Tauranga maiden in 19 starts in NZ.  “He’s not fully wound up – you could see that in the yard,” trainer Shea Eden said following a narrow win on a Good 4 over 1400m at Sale.  “He’s going to keep improving and will work through the grades over more ground.

“Lenny and I have been working together for a while now and the owners are going to have a lot of fun with him,” Eden promised.  “He will also appreciate wetter tracks later this campaign.”

The same syndicate race recent Pakenham winner Moana Jewel (NZ).  Eden also trains Bluegrass Bloodstock buy Akamon (NZ) who won at Geelong in January before going out for a spell.

Lucky For All defied a bias against the rails to win again on the second-day of the Warrnambool carnival for trainer Darren Weir and Spicer Thoroughbreds.

“Dean (Yendall) took advantage when the gaps opened up near the fence and he quickened really well in the rougher ground,” Weir explained.  “He’s a nice horse and laid his ears back and had a real crack in the straight.

“There are better races for him ahead.  Brad Spicer is getting into the tried-horse market and his team are doing a good job getting them out of New Zealand.”

Lucky For All had won first-up at Terang and connections believe he will develop into a strong staying prospect in the next 12 months.  He’s a half-brother to Alamer (LR Trevor Eagle Memorial) and the dam of He’s Our Rokkii (G1 Toorak Hcp).

“I was very impressed with Lucky For All’s trials and when he finishing fourth on debut at Thames,” Russo said.  “So was Mick Sharkie – he’s a great judge of tried-horse form – and we had no hesitation in recommending Lucky For All to Spicer Thoroughbreds.”
