Kiwi Rose blooming for Redoute’s Choice

The NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year series continues with the fourth leg in the G3 Ezibuy Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni on Saturday.

Series leader King’s Rose (Redoute’s Choice) is aiming to become Te Akau stable’s latest NZB Filly of the Year following Shikoba (2006), Princess Coup (2007) and Insouciant (2008).  The Redoute’s Choice filly is trained by Jason Bridgman and was an impressive winner of the G1 NZ Bloodstock 1000 Guineas at her last start.

King’s Rose is raced by Hong Kong-based medico Gene Tsoi.  She was an easy debut winner at Taupo 12 months ago and started her latest campaign with a Listed victory in the John Grigg Stakes at Ashburton in October before graduating to a classic triumph at Riccarton last month.

The Guineas winner is from Australian bred Nureyev mare Nureyev’s Girl.  She was stakes-placed at Morphettville and is a winning half-sister to Randwick stakes winner Roanoke (Danehill).

King’s Rose is one of five stakes winners this season for Redoute’s Choice following Rekindled Interest, Kittens, Milestone and Drumbeats.  The Arrowfield champion currently leads the Australian 3YO Sires’ list by prizemoney and is second on the equivalent New Zealand list.

The G3 Ezibuy Eulogy Stakes winner will receive 6 points in the NZB Filly of the Year Series and King’s Rose currently leads the ladder on 12 points.  Rememba Howe is on 6 points and she appears the biggest threat on Saturday ahead of Banchee (Oratorio), Kiwi Lady (Ruby’s Jester) and Belles Fast (Fastnet Rock).
