Kool win in Hyperion Stakes

Popular Perth galloper King Kool Kat gave his legion of fans plenty to cheer about with a magnificent win in Saturday’s G3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) at Belmont.

King Kool Kat (7g King Cugat – Affaire en Or by Dieu d’Or) was narrowly beaten in the G3 Belmont Sprint earlier this month but bounced back to his brilliant best to defeat Impressive Jeuney (Jeune) and Grand Nirvana (Scenic).

“I love the horse and he’s got a huge following,” trainer Ian Glading said.  “He’s got his own Facebook page.  Everywhere we go, people ask about the horse.   After his next run here in a fortnight, he will have a break and then we will look at Kalgoorlie.”

King Kool Kat won the Listed Hannans Handicap at the Goldfields carnival last year.  He was purchased from Emerald Thoroughbreds at the 2005 Perth Magic Millions for just $9,000 and has earned well over $650,000.

King Kool Kat is a son of South Australian based sire King Cugat and his dam Affaire en Or is a winning half sister to the five time winner and VRC Oaks runner-up Manang.

Affaire en Or has a 2yo filly named Moxie Doll (Mossman) and a yearling colt by Court Command.
