Sessions Peak continued the winning connection between Krisman Park studmaster Phil Bruce and trainer Colin Webster at Ascot on Saturday.
The 4yo son of Oakland Park sire Sessions saluted in the TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Hcp (1600m) to improve his record to 4 wins in 17 starts for prizemoney of $133,577 including Westspeed Platinum bonuses of $49,850
“I hate having stablemates up against each other but we had four in this race,” Webster said. “It couldn’t be helped. There’s nothing next week and the class and distance was suitable for all of them today.
“I couldn’t separate them although Sessions Peak did put in a promising run last Saturday. He’s an up-and-coming horse and has really gone on with it today.”
Sessions Peak was bred by Bruce at Krisman Park in Dardanup and he kept a share after she was knocked down for $23,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions. He’s the first named foal of Jungfrau Girl (High Chaparral) who won a Northam maiden for Bruce and Webster before retiring to stud where her latest foals are a 2yo colt by Bondi and a yearling colt by Sessions.
Jungfrau Girl is a half-sister to G3 Carlyon Cup winner Time Matters (Gilded Time) and second-dam Maat (Sarab) is a half-sister to G1 Melbourne Cup winner Rogan Josh (Old Spice).
Other Krisman Park winners for Webster have been the Ascot-winning sisters Pearls From Heaven and Crystal Valley. Bruce bred them by using Blackfriars over Adelaide winner Missunicoffski (Scenic) whose relations include Dallas Dempster’s LR Sunspeed Champion Stakes winner Timeless Effort (Serheed).
Both those mares also retired to Dardanup. Pearls From Heaven’s maiden cover was to Maschino last October and Crystal Valley’s second serve earlier that month was to Long Leaf.
