Flying Spur’s 2008 STC Todman Stakes winner Krupt is set to commence stud duties at Lincoln Farm later this year following the successful syndication of the brilliant juvenile Group 2 winner.

One of the most appealing young sire prospects Down Under, Krupt was a $450,000 purchase at the 2007 Australian Easter yearling sale and immediately proceeded to live up to his price tag during his first season in training.

In three starts at two during the course of 2007-08, Krupt finished first, second and third, progressing from a minor placing in a Wyong maiden on debut.

Krupt (4h Flying Spur-Categorical by Hennessy) also earned highly creditable black-type by finishing runner-up in the Group 3 AJC Kindergarten Stakes.

However, it is Krupt’s final outing as a two year-old that this exciting young sire prospect should best be judged as it witnessed the striking chestnut colt establishing himself as one of the leading juveniles of his generation.

In winning the Group 2 STC Todman Stakes, Krupt defeated, amongst others, the MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner of the same season Reaan.

In so doing, Krupt joined the likes of Charge Forward, Exceed And Excel, General Nediym, Maurauding, Crown Jester and Luskin Star on the honour roll of one of Australasia’s most prized juvenile events.

Unfortunately, a foot abscess prevented Krupt from taking his place in the 2008 Golden Slipper field and he has not been seen in action since his Todman Stakes success.

A magnificent chestnut entire from the northern hemisphere-bred Hmare Categorical (USA), Krupt hails from one of the great female families of the thoroughbred world.

Krupt’s third-dam is Grand Luxe (Sir Ivor), a stakes winning half-sister to the highly successful racehorses and/or sires L’Enjoleur, D’Accord and Medaille D’Or.

Consequently, Krupt is not only closely-related to his own sire Flying Spur, a former Champion Sire of Australia, but also Encosta de Lago, the reigning Champion Sire of Australia.

This immediate lineage, of course, traces back to the celebrated matriarch Fanfreluche and also includes the likes of Coolmore’s exciting young stallion Holy Roman Emperor (Ire), and Milanova, the most expensive broodmare ever bought at public auction in this part of the world when fetching $5 million.

Krupt is to stand alongside Ready’s Image (USA) at a newly acquired property located at Blandford, in the Upper Hunter Valley, recently purchased by Lincoln Farm’s proprietor Nick Posa.
