Exceed And Excel has been enjoying a benchmark season with his juveniles this season. Adelaide’s farewell meeting of 2010-11 saw the Victorian visitor Kulgrinda fly the flag for his three year-olds.
Kulgrinda (3f Exceed And Excel – River Crossing by Bellotto) is only lightly raced but acted like a seasoned campaigner. The Peter Moody trained filly settled midfield before drawing away in the straight to win the LR Reliance Lightning Stakes at Morphettville by a length-and-a-half.
Exceed And Excel has sired 23 juvenile winners of 32 races in Australia this season.
Kulgrinda is one of 31 winners of 45 races for Exceed And Excel’s three year-olds in 2010-11. Kulgrinda is his only stakes winner in that crop this season apart from fellow Contract Racing galloper Curtana (LR VRC Gucci Stakes).
His dam River Crossing is a half-sister to G1 winner River Dove. She is booked to visit Exceed And Excel again this season.
Since January 2008, no stallion globally has achieved more juvenile stakes winners or juvenile winners than Exceed And Excel. With 167 two-year-old winners over that period, it is a remarkable to note that his nearest rival Invincible Spirit, is some 41 winners astern.
Exceed And Excel stands at Darley Kelvinside. He has covered the likes of G1 winning mares Champagne, Miss Andretti, Mnemosyne, Virage de Fortune and Rinky Dink in recent years.
