La Tia pulled up in perfect order after her game fourth in the G1 Beverly D Stakes at Arlington.
The daughter of Yarradale Stud sire City Place (USA) led until the last 100 metres and was beaten little more than a length by British Group 1 raider Euro Charline, Breeders’ Cup heroine Stephanie’s Kitten and Irish 1000 Guineas winner Just the Judge.
“She’s no worse for wear and is very happy right now,” trainer Armando De La Cerda reported after the August 16 feature for fillies and mares. “She wasn’t too tired – I gave her four days of walking before another gallop.”
Connections have a variety of options for the mare. The G3 Noble Damsel Stakes at Belmont on September 13 or the G2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine on September 14 are in the mix.
The G1 First Lady Stakes (1600m) at Keeneland on October 4 fits in longer-term.
La Tia (5m City Place – La Adelita by Sky Classic) was a six-length winner of the G3 Ontario Matron Stakes (1700m) at Woodbine prior to the Beverley D.
City Place (Storm Cat) has built an 82% winning strike-rate in North America and he will stand for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee at Yarradale Stud this year.
