Three Bridges Thoroughbreds graduate Lady Lago showed plenty of scope for improvement when breaking her maiden at Greyville in South Africa on Sunday.
Lady Lago (3f Encosta de Lago – Lady Circles by Ascot Knight) went through the Three Bridges consignment for $55,000 at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale. She was purchased by Form Bloodstock on behalf of Sheikh bin Khalifa and champion trainer Mike De Kock.
Racing first-up after an 11 week break, Lady Lago overcame a wide barrier on the Polytrack circuit to defeat her short-priced stablemate Alessia by a neck in the RNK Logistics Plate (1600m).
Lady Lago was bred by Peter Anastasiou (Grandlodge Thoroughbreds) and Ken Biddick (Ken Bee Sports). The Melbourne businessmen enjoyed several racing highlights last season winning the G2 MVRC Vase with Moonovermanhattan and LR VRC Standish Hcp with Decircles.
They also won the 2013 and 2014 editions of the LR Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) at Flemington with Unchain My Heart (Al Maher).
Decircles can added more black-type in the G3 Aurie’s Star Hcp (1200m) at headquarters this Saturday. He is an older brother of Lady Lago and their dam has a yearling colt by Eliza Park International stallion Wanted.
