Clangalang needs a good horse to kick-start his career at stud and he may have unearthed one down at Greg Eurell’s Cranbourne yard.

His first crop gelding Lakedro won by six lengths at Geelong on September 11 and he can make it two on the trot in Race 7 (4.25pm) at Kyneton on Friday.  He steps up from 1755m to 2025m in the Interlease Handicap and appears to have a class edge on his rivals.

Clangalang was a G1 winner of the AJC Derby and Epsom Handicap before retiring to Eliza Park in 2004.  His own sire Clang is going as well as ever with Mr Clangtastic in superb form for Marc Connors.

Another smart type from his first crop is Seymour based filly Reverberates but trainer David Bourne is probably regretting the boom he put on her after a Sandown win earlier this year.  She hasn’t been seen since an unplaced run in the Kewney Stakes in March.

Clangalang has sired 15 winners at a 40% strike-rate in his first two crops and will need to improve that rating to stay on the Eliza Park roster.  Lakedro can help by building a picket fence next to his name this campaign.
