Lane’s End pensions Kingmambo

Champion Kentucky sire Kingmambo has almost certainly covered his last mare.  Lane’s End Stud owner Will Farish revealed his star stallion had been restricted by neck problems for some time.

“We only bred one mare to him this year, and she didn’t get in foal,” Farish said  “It’s not his fertility; it’s his ability to perform.  We’ve tried everything in the world, as you can imagine.”

The 20-year-old son of Mr. Prospector is one of the great stallions of all time.  “What I liked about him originally was that he was a great miler in Europe.,” Farish added.  “He has a phenomenal pedigree and he has lived up to it in every respect.   He’s sired classic horses, sprinters and milers.”

He is the sire of 86 stakes winners (as of September 11) and his champions include 1999 Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid, El Condor Pasa, Alkaased, Rule Of Law, Virginia Waters, Russian Rhythm and Divine Proportions.

Among his stallion sons in Europe and the USA are Lemon Drop Kid, who stands at Lane’s End, King’s Best, Henrythenavigator and Archipenko.

According to the USA Jockey Club, Kingmambo has only one foal in his 2010 crop, a colt out of Queen of Money.
