Mungrup Stud rounded off a big week when Dream Lifter led home a quartet for its sires at Belmont on Saturday.

Dream Lifter (4g Danehill Express – Ebony Storm by Metal Storm) was having his first start for trainer Jim Taylor in the Ascend Sales Trophies Hcp (1200m).  He defied running down in the final race to win by a length from Rusty Peaches (Danehill Dancer), McScar (McFlirt) and Little Shadow (Oratorio).

Earlier in the day, Come Flirt With Me (McFlirt) and Lenience (Danehill Express) had won at Belmont.  And earlier in the week, Mungrup stallions dominated WA’s juvenile events with Castle Retreat (Oratorio) & Kapaander (McFlirt) at Belmont while Properantes (Danehill Express) won on debut at Pinjarra.

Dream Lifter has won 4 of his 9 starts for owner-breeders Garry Cummins and Neville Matthews.  He was previously trained by Paul Hunter and had earned black-type when runner-up in the LR South-West Breeders Classic at Bunbury last year.

“Paul rang and asked if I would take him over,” Taylor explained.  “The horse came to us in perfect order and it only took a day or two for him to settle in and start thriving.”

Dream Lifter is the only foal of Ebony Storm who won 12 races topped by a front-running victory in the LR Jungle Mist Classic at Ascot in 2006.

Mungrup Stud’s superb week adds the finishing touches to another award-winning season for its sires.  Oratorio is about to be crowned Champion WA 2YO sire for the fourth time in the last six years and Danehill Express will claim the WA 3YO premiership.

Mungrup shuttler Dick Turpin (Ire) will have his first southern yearlings catalogued for the 2015 Perth Magic Millions.  And newcomer Playing God is assured of an initial book befitting his stature as one of the best gallopers to ever race in Western Australia.
