Let’s Galahvant strikes in Strickland Stakes

Iron-horse Let’s Galahvant completed a hat-trick of WA-bred winners for Pearce Racing in the G3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday.

Let’s Galahvant was bred and sold by Rangeview Stud and the lion’s share of Saturday’s $200,000 purse sent his career card to 12 wins in 40 starts for earnings of $838,760 including Westspeed bonuses of $99,300.

Earlier on the Strickland Stakes card, Ben and Dan Pearce prepared the Demerit winners Oly’s Choice and Climb On Top who were bred by Taunton Vale and Oakland Park respectively.

Let’s Galahvant is by former Rangeview Stud sire Galah and graduated to a Group level victory following Listed wins in the Hannan’s Hcp, WA Carbine Club Stakes and Northam Cup.  “He’s never let us down,” Ben Pearce said.

“He comes in and produces every prep.  He enjoys the work and stable life.  He’s just so tough and proved himself at weight-for-age again today.”

Galah sired him from Secret Crush (So Secret) who has foaled five winners by the son of Redoute’s Choice.  She is a half-sister to the Rangeview-bred black-type winners Keyton Grace (LR Hannan’s Hcp, Starstruck Classic, La Trice Classic) and Shock Value (LR Birthday Stakes – twice).

“He just keeps raising the bar and is a pleasure to ride,” Craig Parnham said.  “They didn’t go overly hard and he just did the rest.”

Let’s Galahvant will either head to the Eastern States in the spring with stablemate Acromantula (Written Tycoon) or be set for the G1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 23.

Galah 3yo Fly With Caution is a leading Westspeed horse this season with bonuses of $113,000 for trainer Robert Witten.  His older half-sister Dash Doll won twice at the provincials for Witten before being covered by Ducimus last year.

Dash Doll is by So Secret (Danetime) who is in the twilight of his stud career at Rangeview.  Now rising 21, he has two colts on the ground and covered three mares last year.

Rangeview stallion Long Leaf (Fastnet Rock) has his first crop racing this season and is standing for a $5,500 (inc GST) service fee in 2024.
