Leviosa wins lucrative Inglis Bonus

Exciting filly Leviosa gave Port Macquarie trainer Jenny Graham and connections another lucrative Inglis Race Series pay day at Grafton on Thursday.

Leviosa (2f Magic Albert – Seena Baleena by Zoffany) was caught wide throughout but that made no difference as she raced away to complete a hat-trick after earlier wins at her home track.

The NBN Inglis Bonus 2YO Plate minors were filled by Cheerful Dane (California Dane) and Never Doubt Me (Not A Single Doubt).

Graham purchased Leviosa for $14,000 at the 2010 Inglis Scone yearling sale.  That auction has turned out to be a bountiful hunting ground for Graham.  She also purchased $100,000 Scone Challenge winner Alcancia out of the sale for a mere $6,500.

Leviosa, now the winner of $100,000 thanks to the Grafton windfall, was secured out of the Yarraman Park draft by Graham as a replacement for ill-fated filly Unworry.

Winning rider Robert Thompson tipped a bright future for the Magic Albert filly.  “I know she had won twice on the heavy, but I knew she would explode on top of the ground and that’s what she did,” he said.

Graham is now likely to set Leviosa for the $100,000 Inglis race series bonus race at Rosehill on July 30.  Last year’s Grafton Bonus Plate was won by Liesele from subsequent G1 Stradbroke winner Sincero.

The Inglis Race Series continues at Caulfield on Saturda  with several classy youngsters vying for the $100,000 bonus.
