Alsaleet sired his first winner when Buzlightning scored a narrow victory in the XXXX Gold Maiden Plate (1100m) at Port Augusta on Thursday.
Alsaleet stood at Colin Young’s Glenrae Stud in South Australia for two seasons prior to his death in July 2006. A beautifully bred son of Mr. Prospector from Bint Salsabil, he covered a total of 77 mares in 2004 and ’05.
Bint Salsabil (Nashwan) was a G3 winner of the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket. Her dam Salsabil (Sadler’s Wells) won the Irish Derby, English 1000 Guineas and Oaks, Prix Marcel Boussac and Prix Vermeille in a glittering career for Sheikh Hamdan.
Buzlightning (3g Alsaleet – Vain Peril by Kenvain) won by a head at his second start. He was bred by trainer Trevor Dansie and is the first foal of an Oakbank 2yo winner.
