Lincoln Farm connection with War Command

Lincoln Farm owner Nick Posa and his NZ clients including John and Jackie Cameron celebrated another Group 1 result when War Command won the Dewhurst Stakes (1400m) at Newmarket on Saturday.

War Command (2c War Front – Wandering Star by Red Ransom) stamped his authority on this year’s juvenile division with a one-length victory in the Dewhurst.  He started an odds-on favourite after G2 victories in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and Futurity Stakes at the Curragh.

His dam is an older sister to Out of Egypt who has been a resident mare at Lincoln Farm since arriving from Great Britain in 2006.  “John and his partners board Out Of Egypt here and send her foals to New Zealand after we wean them,” Posa explained.  “Her best so far has been Rollout the Carpet and she won last year’s NZ One Thousand Guineas.”

War Command will continue providing updates to the family’s pedigree when he returns to action next year.  “He’s a beautiful-moving horse and an unbelievable specimen physically,” trainer Aidan O’Brien said at Newmarket.  “He may have gone a bit lazy when he got to the front but it’s been a long season.”

Out Of Egypt foaled a Commands colt at Lincoln Farm last month and is being bred back to Exceed and Excel this year.
