Lodge Park leads Book 2 at Tatts October yearling sale

A daughter of Night Shift sire Azamour topped proceeding’s on the second day of Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

Lodge Park Stud consigned the sale topping 1.20 million guineas Galileo during Book 1 of the Tattersalls Sale last week and it may be in line to repeat the feat during Book 2 following the sale of the Azamour filly who is out of the Green Desert mare Flashing Green.  She is a half-sister to Listed winner Flashing Colour.

Locally based agent Dwayne Woods secured the filly for 240,000 guineas after a head-to-head battle with Shadwell Estates agent Angus Gold.  Woods was acting on behalf of Stobart Group CEO Andrew Tinkler.

“She is just a beautiful, beautiful filly – just all class and with perfect balance,” Woods said.  “She should make up into a two-year-old, but has the scope to go on at three.”

A colt by first-season sire Dylan Thomas out of the Listed winning Sadler’s Wells mare Inchiri sold to Coolmore’s M V Magnier for 210,000 guineas.

And fellow Coolmore freshman Excellent Art had a colt out of the Zafonic mare Gentle Night sell for 200,000 guineas.  He will be raced by John Humphreys who owned G1 winner Where Of When.  Humphreys will go halves in the colt with Formula 1 magnate Bernie Ecclestone.  “I had been given some good advice about him,” Humphreys said.  “I only came to buy him and I’m not bidding on any more.”

The second session of Book 2 saw 200 lots sell for 7.30 million guineas at an average of 36,540 guineas.
