Lonhro continued his march up the sires’ table with a stakes double at Randwick and Caulfield on Saturday.  The Darley sire will overhaul Dynaformer this week to go into second spot behind high-flyer High Chaparral.

After the weekend’s racing, High Chaparral ($6.42 million) leads the ladder from Dynaformer ($3.92m), Lonhro ($3.91m) and Commands ($3.80m).

Lonhro and his Darley associate Commands head the black-type brigade with 9 wins each so far this season.

Darley filly Obsequious claimed the G2 Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick by a length at her first run back from a spell.  “Everything went to plan,” trainer Peter Snowden stated post race.  “She dictated the speed and gave a good kick at the finish.”

Obsequious (3f Lonhro – Sycophant by Commands) has now won three of her nine starts and added the Light Finger to her earlier Group 3 in the San Domenico Stakes at Randwick in August 2010.

Darley’s stable queen Beaded was dominant in her return to racing in the G3 Hyderabad Race Club Stakes at Caulfield.  She was unchallenged to score by two lengths despite having to sit three and four-wide in transit.

Beaded will now head to Adelaide for the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes in an effort to improve her already impressive 17: 9-3-4 record.  She will join Lonhro gallopers Obsequious, Trim, Parables and Demerit who are all looking to upgrade their black-type status in the upcoming carnivals.

“She is a classy mare,” Snowden said.  “It is very hard to knock her because she doesn’t know how to run a bad race.  She would have won last year’s Stradbroke if she had drawn an alley.”

Beaded (5m Lonhro – Subtle by Night Shift) is an older half-sister to G3 AJC Up and Coming Stakes winner Rarefied (Commands).  Their dam Subtle died in 2008.  Her half-brother Undue (Commands) was a G1 winner of the BTC Doomben Ten Thousand and MRC Oakleigh Plate.

Lonhro has 16 yearlings entered for the Inglis Melbourne Premier and another 7 catalogued at the Inglis Easter Sale.
