Luck forsakes Kensei

Lookin at Lucky’s half-brother Kensei has been put down after breaking a cannon bone during trackwork in New York.

His death comes just days after Lookin at Lucky left quarantine to stand his first southern season at Coolmore Stud.

Kensei (Mr. Greeley) was trained by Steve Asmussen for Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Stables.  He was a G2 winner of the Dwyer Stakes and Jim Dandy Stakes and earned over $751,000 in an 18 start career.

Lookin At Lucky (Smart Strike) overshadowed his older half-brother with G1 wins in the 2010 Preakness Stakes and Haskell Invitational.  He is the first son of champion USA sire Smart Strike to stand in Australia and will parade at Coolmore this weekend.
