Promising Bradbury’s Luck gelding Kennecott keeps improving with every run and he took another step up the ladder reeling off a fourth win in a row at Kranji on Friday night.

The grey was never in danger while dictating terms in front and fended off all comers at the end of 1200m under Danny Beasley.

“He’s a very professional horse,” trainer Michael Freedman explained.  “We gave him a break at the end of his first preparation last year and I may give him another freshen before the big races kick off in April.”

Kennecott will target the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge.  Beasley said the gelding hasn’t put a foot wrong and he was happy with the way the race panned out.  “He accelerated very well off the bend and won pretty easily.  He’s a very easy horse to ride, gets himself in the right position and makes his own luck.  We’ll have a lot of fun with this one.”

Bradbury’s Luck enjoyed a January to remember after siring 3YO city winners in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.

The Glenlogan Park resident was a Listed winner of the AJC Canonbury Stakes and then landed the 2005 Magic Millions 2yo Classic in a career cut to just a half dozen starts.  He is a son of Redoute’s Choice and is making ground on his Glenlogan Park ally Jet Spur (Flying Spur).

The Jet Spurs are clearly a more precocious breed and he got the jump on Bradbury’s Luck when their first runners appeared.  Nevertheless, there’s evidence to suggest those roles may be reversed given time.

Jet Spur has sired 33 winners (of 55 races) midway through his second season and 5 of them are from his second crop of juveniles.  Bradbury’s Luck has sired 26 winners (of 41 races) but the first winner from his second crop is still on the way.

Kennecott (3g Bradbury’s Luck – Hot Copper by Rory’s Jester) is from a daughter of the Bob Peters owned mare Petite Amour (Prego).  She won the G2 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot and also won to G3 level at Caulfield in the Schillaci Stakes.

Bred by Peter and Marla Blunt of Jacaranda Thoroughbreds, Kennecott fetched $17,000 when offered at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.  Jacaranda has a very nice full sister yearling and a full brother foal out of the mare at Malniri Park near Windsor.
