Lucky return in Lawyers Hcp

Promising Perth galloper Luckygray makes his much awaited return to racing in the Fletcher Lawyers Hcp (1200m) at Belmont on Saturday.

Luckygray (4g Bradbury’s Luck – Damah Lady by Mukaddamah) has won three of his five starts and has been off the scene since finishing a game second to star galloper Playing God back in February.

“What this horse achieved in his first preparation was very special considering we were battling a foot problem,” trainer Gino Polleti said. “That’s the reason we gave him the long break.  We really wanted to get his feet right knowing how much ability he has.

“He was brilliant in a recent trial clocking a tick over 58 seconds for 1000m which was easily the fastest on the day.  He has come through that in super order and is jumping out of his skin.”

Riverslea Farm purchased Luckygray for $31,000 as a foal at the 2008 Inglis weanling sale and pin-hooked him for $46,000 at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions.

His dam Damah Lady is a winning half-sister to G2 STC Todman Slipper Trial winner Diego Garcia.  He also won three races as Express Win in Hong Kong.  The mare has a yearling colt by Natural Destiny.

Bradbury’s Luck has sired 52 winners in his first two crops.  A son of Redoute’s Choice, he stands for a service fee of $8,800 (inc gst) at Glenlogan Park.
