Former Aussie galloper Nittan’s Crown added another Macau feature to his growing list of victories in the G2 Macau Cup (1500m) at Taipa on Sunday night.
Nittan’s Crown (5g Danehill Dancer – Royal Subject by Kingmambo) was coming off a G1 victory in the G1 Macau Gold Cup (1800m) for the Aussie connection of trainer Geoff Allendorf and jockey Brent Stanley.
Nittan’s Crown raced as Just Mambo is Australia. He was purchased for $180,000 by John O’Shea from the draft of Newhaven Park Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.
He was runner-up to Mearas in the 2006 Ming Dynasty Stakes (LR) before winning his maiden at Kembla Grange the following February. Two starts later he won the Phar Lap Stakes (G2) at Rosehill but lost form and was sold to Macau after an unplaced run in the 2008 Doncaster Hcp (G1) won by Triple Honour.
Nittan’s Crown is by Danehill Dancer who is going great guns in Europe this year. His current three year-old crop includes G1 winners Mastercraftsman and Again who completed the Irish Guineas double in May.
Danehill Dancer has sired three millionaires in Australia; Private Street, Choisir and Light Fantastic. The Mick Price trained Light Fantastic was a G1 winner of the 2008 Australian Guineas at Flemington.
